The Blue Wave Offline Mail Reader
Version 2.05

The following is a list of "fixes" to The Blue Wave Offline Mail Reader
since v2.00. Some of these were not bugs, but the operation or feature
was made to work slightly differently (not quite a new feature, and not
quite a bug). Some items were changed to be compatible with more
systems; and some of them were just plain, outright BUGS.
--------------------------- Changes in v2.05 ---------------------------
* Fixed a bug that would cause the reader to exit to DOS in a very few
circumstances when the "Enter Mail in Any Area" menu option was used.
* The reader now updates the "Replied: Y/N" field on the message
display screen immediately after replying to a message.
* The reader now handles a ^Z in the Signature file properly.
* The message header information was mis-aligned when pressing <Alt-P>
to print a message to the printer.
* The "Replied Tag" (~) is now updated on the Title Scan screen for
netmail message areas.
* Message text that contained over 79 columns of text without a space
or a carriage return would cause the reader to do all sorts of
unpredictable things. The reader now wraps lines containing 80+
columns of text to the next line.
* When adopting signatures (Alt-A), the reader would lock up if more
than one was on the screen at one time. The reader now only takes
the LAST signature line that is on the screen and imports it to your
signature file when <Alt-A> is pressed.
* The reader can now properly auto-detect the .PAK archive format.
--------------------------- Changes in v2.01 ---------------------------
* The reader's video routines didn't get along real well with some CGA
video cards. The video routines were also changing the font of some
EGA/VGA systems. The majority of these problems were verifiably fixed.
Hopefully they won't cause any more trouble on Not Quite Compatible
systems.
* MONOCHROME systems had some trouble when a BWCOLOR.200 configuration
file was present. If BWCOLOR.200 was present, the reader would load
it. Some people had managed to get a BWCOLOR.200 from a color system
onto a monochrome system, making one heck of a mess. For this
reason, the reader NO LONGER LOADS THE COLOR CONFIGURATION FILE when
a monochrome system is detected, or the -M(onochrome) switch is used
on the command line. If a monochrome system *really* needs to load a
color configuration file, YOU MUST USE THE -O(verride) COMMAND LINE
PARAMETER.
EXAMPLE C:> BWAVE -m -o <==Forces monochrome, and READ color file
* The reader was sometimes rebooting machines when run under DESQview
and/or QEMM. This has been fixed.
* Once in a great while the reader would throw "garbage" to the editor
when quoting a message. We contacted our local landfill, and now
have a contract to dump our garbage there. We won't be getting rid
of it on your system any more.
* Reader now remembers the last filename used when saving a message to
disk. This operation can be modified, however, by using the "Set
SaveFile to AreaName" on the SETUP->Options Menu.
* There was a bug that would not allow the editing of NETMAIL messages
from the "View, Edit, Kill" menu. Squashed.
* Sometimes the reader wouldn't let you edit ANY message from the
"View, Edit, Kill" menu. That, too, has been fixed.
* The reader now deletes *.BAK files from your REPLY directory before
compressing your upload (*.NEW) packet. Some editors like to create
these files when you edit a text file.
* The Conference/Area Name was left off when printing a message or
saving it to disk. It is now printed in the message header.
* The selection windows used within the reader were modified to perform
more consistently. Please see WHATSNEW.201 for a description of the
keys to use to perform various movements.
* Setting the reader's "Beep on Errors" option sometimes did not work.
The reader will now remain silent when this is turned OFF.
* When items were tagged from the Purge Packet menu, the reader would
sometimes report an erroneous number of packets that it was about to
purge. This has been fixed.
* The reader no longer will accept an <ESC> key when you have "Save
Read/Reply Pointers" set to "Prompt", and it is asking you if you WANT
to save them. You must answer "Y" or "N". Why? People were
slapping <ESC> to get back to the main menu a few too many times, and
sometimes they DID want to save their message pointers. This was
requested by several users.
* There were numerous other minor changes, but nothing that should
affect the operation of the reader.
